In Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, on 23-24th of October, international forum Future Energy CO2 emissoin reduction is occuring, where more than 200 participants out of 86 countries are taking part. Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Teimuraz Murgulia will attend plenary session Green Bridge Partnership Program.
22th of October is a tree planting day. Prime Minister's initiative Green Future is going on, which aims to promote the planting process across the country.
Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia's Environmental Information and Education Centre conducted a presentation of the results of assessment of environmental education in Georgia. The survey had been conducted during September-October 2014, where 57 kindergartens, 69 public schools, 33 vocational education institutions, 57 universities and 28 organizations involved.
First meeting on the topic of forest code project implementation has been held by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia. The above meeting was opened by Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Giorgi Somkhishvili. At the meeting were discussed remarks and recommendations also existing legislative data base within partner non-governmental organizations, and representatives of World Bank.
Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Elguja Khokrishvili together with Deputy Head of UNDP in Georgia Shombi Sharp, awarded the winner of Global Environment Facility (GEF). In the frame of small grant programs 19 non-governmental organizations were winners. They had received 380 000 dollars. Small grant program is being implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia in collaboration with UNDP. Winning projects had been selected out of 98 applications. Grant amount is approximately 7000- 50.000 dollars.
On 8 October, 2014, Minsk, Belarus, the Third EaP GREEN Programme's Steering Committee Meeting will be conducted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Mr. Teimuraz Murgulia, first Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia will participate in the meeting.The "Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighbourhood" (EaP GREEN) programme is being implemented by OECD in cooperation with UNECE, UNEP, and UNIDO. Six Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) are involved in the programme. The third steering committee meeting is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus.
