Department of Integrated Environmental Management
Department of Integrated Environmental Management is a structural subdivision of the Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia. Structural units of Department are: Division of Air Protection; Division of Water Resource Management; Division of Wastes and Chemicals Management and Division of Hydrometeorology and Climate Changes.
The competences of Department of integrated environmental management are to implement realization of state policy of atmospheric air protection on the whole territory of Georgia, to determine priority directions of atmospheric air protection activities, to implement discussion and approve the sources of atmospheric air protection and technical report of inventory of their harmful emissions according to the rules proved by legislation, to register state water consumption on the whole territory of Georgian and to set its norms, to determine and coordinate priority directions of water protection activities, to organize activities of preparing water state cadastre, water supply balance, complex usage of water and general schemes of protection. The department is committed to participate in the state in policy-making of waste and chemicals management and to ensure its implementation on the whole area, to implement the international obligations in the fields of atmospheric air protection, water, waste and chemicals management, to participate in preparing the national environmental reports, to coordinate the issues related to state policy of hydro-meteorology and monitoring of environmental pollution, participate in regulation works on climate change problems in Georgia, to develop and implement state policy and its strategy.
